Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (August 12, 2008) –If you have always wanted to experience the Rocky Mountaineer rail journey but haven’t had the time, now is your chance.  For the first time ever, Rocky Mountaineer Vacations is offering BC Residents 24 hours to cover some serious ground and see the spectacular sights of Western Canada for as little as $408. With the One Day Rail Specials, guests can choose their route and travel from Kamloops to Vancouver or in either direction between Kamloops and Banff, Calgary or Jasper. This limited time offer is valid from now until October 15, 2008 for travel during the 2008 operating season.

During its regular operation, the Rocky Mountaineer is a two-day, all daylight rail journey and takes guests between the cosmopolitan destinations of Vancouver to the Rocky Mountain towns of Jasper and Banff or Calgary, Alberta. Travellers overnight in Kamloops, BC. The train journey offers a front row view of Western Canada’s spectacular scenery, including the ferocious Fraser River, the Spiral Tunnels and the majestic Rocky Mountains. On the train, guests are given personalized service by friendly Onboard Attendants and dine on sumptuous bi-regional cuisine. Canadians will be particularly fascinated by the onboard commentary which speaks about the history of the railways.

Prices for the One Day Rail Specials begin at $408 in traditional RedLeaf Service. For that extra special touch, travellers can upgrade to GoldLeaf Service and view the scenery from a stylish two level dome coach, fully equipped with an elegant dining room and a menu of delicious bi-regional cuisine. For GoldLeaf Service, prices begin at $785. The One Day Rail Specials include the rail journey, breakfast and lunch onboard the train, luggage handling and rail station transfers in Kamloops. Guests can choose to travel from Kamloops to Vancouver or in either direction between Kamloops and Banff, Calgary or Jasper. Rates are also available with accommodation in Kamloops.
