Armstrong Group, owners and operators of Rocky Mountaineer Vacations and the highly acclaimed Rocky Mountaineer train, is proud to be celebrating over 17 years in business. The organization’s growth from a small entrepreneurial dream into a successful Canadian company has been built on its principles of guest service and a commitment to creating spectacular experiences through partnerships with premier Canadian travel products.

The past year has seen Armstrong Group acquire several businesses during a time of record growth. Since the city of Kamloops, British Columbia serves as the mid-point for all guests travelling onboard Rocky Mountaineer’s two-day rail journey, the company entered the western Canadian hotel market and purchased the Thompson Hotel and Conference Centre in Kamloops. The Hotel is one of the most popular properties for Rocky Mountaineer guests and is a natural fit. Soon after, Armstrong Group acquired the already successful Gray Line West sightseeing and charter bus operations in Vancouver, Whistler and Victoria, British Columbia and Banff, Alberta. Both of these partnerships have provided the company with further opportunities to provide a seamless guest travel experience throughout Western Canada, the areas in which Rocky Mountaineer Vacations currently operates.

Today, Rocky Mountaineer Vacations, Gray Line West and the Thompson Hotel and Conference Centre are proud to be partners in offering the highest quality of comfort and service to our guests travelling throughout British Columbia and Alberta. Together, we are committed to creating spectacular experiences for our visitors from around the world.

Gray Line West, owned and operated by Armstrong Group (AG), offers both sightseeing and charter motorcoach operations in Victoria, British Columbia and Banff, Alberta.  The company operates a total of 90 motorcoaches and employs over 175 people.  In 2005, Princess Cruises honoured Gray Line West with the prestigious Shore Excursion of the Season Award for its Butchart and Butterfly Gardens Tour in Victoria. In May 2005, AG announced the acquisition of the Gray Line franchises, which now operates jointly as Gray Line West.
The Thompson Hotel and Conference Centre boasts 98 rooms and it is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Kamloops, B.C. Originally built in 1963, the Hotel, which has undergone extensive renovations over the years, features a licensed restaurant/lounge, full service pool and fitness facility, meeting space as well as high speed wireless Internet service.
